Galantamine improves the function of nerve cells in the brain. It works by preventing the breakdown of a chemical called acetylcholine (ah see til KO leen). People with dementia usually have lower levels of this chemical, which is important for the processes of memory, thinking, and reasoning. Galantamine is used to treat mild to moderate dementia caused by Alzheimer's disease. Galantamine may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.

Generic Nizoral is used for treating fungal infections.

Generic Oxytrol reduces muscle spasms of the bladder and urinary tract. It is used to treat symptoms of overactive bladder, such as frequent or urgent urination, incontinence (urine leakage) and increased nighttime urination.

Generic Tofranil is used for treating depression. It is also used in some children to help reduce bedwetting. It works by increasing the activity of certain chemicals in the brain that help elevate mood.
